“The instructor is a wonderful person and has a great grasp of culture and art without being Ukrainian. She has a wealth of knowledge which she shares totally. It was wonderful meeting other pysanky artists.”
“You were able to make this interesting for just about any level of skill.”
“There was a little more ‘instruction’ than I expected – but that was a good thing. I liked that I could still work while listening.”
“I liked having all day every day to try stuff and having all of the workshops be optional.”
“You did a great job of taking the time to get with me individually to explain how pysanky works. You were very approachable, friendly, and a great teacher. Also, everyone at the retreat was great, they were all very willing to share information and a fun group to be with.”
“Most relaxing four days I have spent in a long time – complete escape!!”
“Good location, handouts, materials to work with, adequate free time, informal approach to allow sharing, individual stations.”
“Through ‘formal’ instruction and informal interaction I was able to address all the questions I had coming in – and able to try all the techniques I had as goals to try.”
“It was really informative to watch how others work. It was also wonderful to see all the real-time problem-solving going on.”
“I gained a new sense of confidence in my work. I gained a lot of wonderful ‘nuggets’ of information. I gained a different perspective on what can be done.”
Would you recommend this class to a friend? Yes, but probably only to an experienced egger. There was so much information, I would have been overwhelmed as total pysanky virgin. By experienced, I mean having made at least one egg.”
“I was surprised how much about teaching there was to know.”
“It’s really nice to be with others who share your passion/interest and enthusiasm.”
“Learned all kinds of things from everyone who attended.”
“I learned a lot about ‘controlling my color’ which is something I never really paid attention to.”
“I learned many new tips and tricks and got so many great ideas.”
“Very organized. Everyone was very friendly and it was a lot of fun to learn Pysanky and to meet everyone.”
“We were all able to learn and accept the various ideas.”
“Was happy to be able to try things I had only ever heard/read about.”
“As one (as I understand many of us are) who has slogged away at this completely on my own for a number of years, it was an indescribable learning experience to be with a group of pysanky artists intensively over a several day period - learning from each other, sharing ideas and having our learning guided by such a great teacher and artist in Lisa. I learned more in 4 days by ten fold than I have in my previous 23 years at this. It will eventually show up in my work I hope - but I feel like a whole new world has opened up to me as a result of this workshop. Projects and designs I previously dismissed as out of reach are now well within my grasp. Thank you to everyone who was part of this workshop and shared so generously with me. Thank you especially to Lisa for bringing her idea for this to reality.”
